Solomon Islands Scuba Diving

Solomon Islands - Cyber Diver Top 10 Dive Destination >>

ature seems to have designed the Solomon Islands specifically for scuba divers.  Its reefs and marine wildlife are stunning and the relatively few people scattered throughout the archipelago minimize environmental stress. But like Fiji, there is trouble in the Solomons where many have stumbled back into tribalism, ethnic strife and violence.

While much remains to be done, security has been improving in the Solomon Islands since mid-2003 when armed police and military personnel from throughout Oceania, including Australia and New Zealand, arrived to help restore law and order.

Peace has finally returned to Honiara, the capital of the Solomons, however, visitors should take precautions to avoid trouble. There have been no reports of any trouble elsewhere in the country where most of the tourist destinations are located.  Be sure to check CDNN Dive Travel Alert before traveling to the Solomon Islands.
