Papua New Guinea - Cyber Diver Top 10 Dive Destination >>

t is no coincidence that the world's best dive destination also happens to be the least developed.  New Guinea, more than any other place on earth, reminds us of our primeval past and the beauty and mystery we've lost on the way to becoming so uncomfortably civilized.

For divers who seek the ultimate opportunity to witness nature's awe-inspiring biodiversity before overdevelopment, overcrowding and pollution degrade and destroy it, New Guinea is probably the best choice.

Let us hope we have learned from our past mistakes, that developers will be kept out, that natural inland and coastal habitats will remain inviolate, that indigenous tribes will not be reduced to eco tourist theme park performers.

  • WARNING

Papua New Guinea gets a bad rap from the media about crime, however, many of the reports about rapes, robberies and random violence are exaggerated.  Still, travelers should be wary, take common sense precautions, and if possible, avoid urban areas, especially Port Moresby, where most of the incidents have occurred.
