Despite hundreds of huge polluting cruise ships anchoring on fragile reefs, thousands of tourists in town shopping for knick-knacks, rampant overdevelopment, sewer pipes discharging into the ocean, fast food joints, shopping malls, franchise bars, T-shirt shops, bureaucratic squabbling over much needed marine conservation measures (have we left out anything?), thanks to strong currents, the water in Cozumel is still crystal-clear.
So if you're looking for excellent 50-meter+ viz, you certainly won't be disappointed.
